The robust DCU device features an Ethernet port, an RS485 port, an M-Bus port with cellular module options in a compact industrial design. The device was designed for use in various metering and M2M / IoT applications, including Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and industrial automation projects.

This reliable and rugged communication device has an eMMC chip for secure boot and encrypted data storage. It also features an OTP-enabled memory chip, an option for a Chip SIM (MFF2), and supercapacitor protection along with the latest security and network protocols, features for maximum security.

The M2M Industrial Router 2 DCU M-Bus has been developed specifically for utilities, ensuring secure and reliable communication in substations, transformer stations, and grid control centers. To meet the stringent security requirements of the European Network for Cyber Security (ENCS), the device has undergone a complete redesign, achieving full ENCS certification.

Seamless Integration in Substations

Substations are a critical component of the power grid, requiring reliable and secure communication between field devices and control centers. The M2M Industrial Router 2 DCU M-Bus ensures real-time, encrypted data transmission between protection relays, RTUs, and SCADA systems. Its ruggedized design and secure remote management capabilities make it ideal for use in harsh substation environments, ensuring seamless operation and protection against cyber threats.

The data concentrator is capable of reading registers from connected PLCs and sensors on RS485 (via Modbus RTU), on Ethernet (via Modbus TCP), and receiving data from up to 30 or 250 M-Bus meters (which are using standard M-Bus port).

It provides 24–36 VDC power for externally connected M-Bus slave devices and supports up to 30 devices on a single M-Bus interface. Automatic discovery and scanning of connected devices are supported using both primary and secondary addressing modes. The polling interval of each connected M-Bus slave device can be configured individually.

The DCU enables reliable MQTT-based transmission of metering and operational data to the data center, offering a scalable and cost-effective solution.

 

Factory Pre-Configuration for Rapid Deployment

The device utilizes the open-source OpenWRT® operating system, allowing clients to compile their own applications to the firmware. It features a user-friendly web interface for easy
access and configuration.

To streamline deployment, the router can be pre-configured at the factory according to customer specifications. This ensures that devices are ready for immediate use upon installation, reducing setup time and minimizing configuration errors.

 

Advanced Device Management with Node-Red Support

The device is fully manageable through our state-of-the-art Device Manager® platform, a sophisticated Network Management Tool (NMT) that provides real-time monitoring, secure OTA firmware updates, and mass deployment capabilities.
